Cat House on the Kings in Parlier, CA is a remarkable place. Twenty years ago, the owner, Lynea Lattanzio, decided to turn her entire property over to cats. The 12-acre no-cage, no-kill cat sanctuary is currently home to 700 permanent resident cats. The property is surrounded by a six foot tall fence, with a four foot inward facing overhang. The cats have free access to both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a 4,200 square foot ranch home. The permanent residents are cats that are considered unadoptable because they are either feral, too old or ill. She even has a separate FIV ward where they keep 10 - 12 FIV+ cats.
What Lynea is doing is amazing. Over the past 20 years she has saved the lives of over 20,000 cats who would otherwise be destined to live and die alone in cages.
